my NCEdCloud The North Carolina Education Cloud (NCEdCloud) is a delivery platform for the most modern administrative and instructional support systems. It is equipped with the infrastructure, tools, and resources needed to help the entire NC Race to the Top (RttT) initiatives. The IAM Service is based on the principle that solid identity management is a foundational component
for the IT paradigm shift toward cloud technologies. As more services move to the cloud, a centralized and standard way to manage these technologies’ accounts, roles, and permissions is required for successful deployment and ongoing management.

The goal of the IAM Service is for every student, teacher, staff member, parent or guardian, and school community member to have a unique username and password to access cloud-based learning resources in North Carolina. IAM will provide self-service capabilities to all
users and delegation capabilities to all LEA/ Charter School administrators. The service will have three major components:

• A centralized data repository with all user identity information collected in a single location will create an opportunity for better reporting capabilities, data analytics generation, and access control management.

• A central directory service that provides a master authentication and authorization resource. It will also bring new options to local school district personnel with an automated mechanism for synchronizing global user information from the centralized directory service to local directory services.

• Federation software that enables Single Sign-On functionality for users, a single username and password that grants access to all of a user’s relevant cloud services. The IAM Service can bring new options and opportunities to the local school districts. It has the potential to reduce support costs through more effective account life-cycle management and create a better, more secure, and more productive user experience

The IAM project aims to address the challenges K-12 stakeholders face: K-12 users have too many accounts to manage. The average student in NC currently has 4-6 charges for accessing their learning resources, whether the resources are hosted on local LEA and Charter School systems or cloud-based services. Franklin County Schools’ Student Instructions

As of now all students in Franklin County Schools will need to create an account, set up an account with a password and be able to answer security questions regarding the account. The requirements for passwords and security questions are provided below to help you be ready. For IAM Service, the IAM Service usernames are the same as the student’s powerschool ID (UID).

The information you’ll be required to log in/change or make sure you have an IAM login:

A password that you’ll be using

The process for claiming your account are as follows:

Go to: http://my.ncedcloud.org
Click on Claim My Account
Click the down button to select LEA Students Claim Policy, then select Next
Input the four required information as required (Student UID and Grade and Birthdate “YYYYMMDD” 350)
Make sure to check the box that says “I’m not a bot.”
Create a password and confirm the validity of it. Passwords must meet the following criteria:

8-16 Characters
at least one uppercase and one lowercase letter and1 number
The password you enter must not be you username (UID) or you first name or your final name.
Spaces aren’t allowed.
Passwords cannot begin or end with!

Complete a minimum of five challenging questions. You can choose between the following questions:
