In the last few minutes, Call of Duty unveiled a massive information drop from The Port in Long Beach. With 90,000 square feet of iconography visible from space, the next chapter of the legendary franchise was released. In the span of 24 hours, a group was able to maneuver a massive cargo ship that contained a Modern Warfare II wrap that featured the mysterious Task Force 141 Operative Ghost on storage containers. The ship arrived at the port, which also contained a Modern Warfare II image, to complete the huge puzzle.

While the docking was taking in place, drone video recorded the ship’s movements in their entireness, while also revealing preliminary announcements regarding the game, including artwork that gives the first glimpse of Task Force 141’s other members as well as the release date for Modern Warfare II on 28 October 2022 that you can watch on the video (above).

In a tweet posted by the official Call of Duty Twitter account The studio has announced that Modern Warfare 2 will be released on the 28th of October. Additionally, the high-quality video clip showed an exclusive glimpse of some of the characters as well as the artwork for the cover of the sequel that is coming out.

The company was not content with just a reveal of the cover along with a date for release, Activision unveiled the main artwork to Modern Warfare 2 by putting an expanded version of the artwork on a boat for shipping and docking it to create the complete image.

The artwork of the main character features an operator wearing a skull-like mask. In contrast to the grim and grey look of the original Modern Warfare reboot, Modern Warfare 2 will sport the neon green look. Take a look at the complete key artwork below.

Activision Blizzard officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 at the beginning of this year. The annual series will be managed through Infinity Ward this year and will be a follow-up to the reboot in 2019. Initial reports suggest it is likely that Modern Warfare 2 will center on U.S. special forces fighting the Colombian drug cartel.

It could also be the final annual Call of Duty game as it was announced that the 2023 Call of Duty game will be launched by 2024 and the series might not be an annual brand in the wake of Microsoft’s purchase from Activision Blizzard.

But, there are reports there is a possibility Activision Blizzard is committed to making the three upcoming Call of Duty games multiplatform.
