I was wearing my Oura Ring for an entire year. It was a great reminder of the things I like and do not like about it The Oura Ring holds up a year after.
In the past year, since I began using Oura’s Mya Ring The wearable for fitness has helped me in many ways throughout my daily life. But more than everything else, it’s an excellent conversation starter.
If others notice the ring on my finger they inquire if they think the Oura Ring is worth it or if it’s the most advanced smart band currently available and what it could provide me with than the Apple Watch or activity band won’t.
Oura Ring Gen 3 (slash the newer Oura Ring Gen 3 (slash the latest Oura Ring) is most likely the most popular smart ring available, packing a variety of health sensors in the smallest of shapes. Although it tracks fitness and movement sleep monitoring is Oura Ring’s main feature.
It’s still not a perfect gadget There are a few warnings I give to people who might be looking to purchase one. But I’m sure to explain the reasons I’ve stuck on using it for the entire year. Here’s what I love and dislike regarding Mya Ring. Oura Ring, based on years of use.
Top-notch sleep tracking
Oura Ring Oura Ring is my favorite sleep-tracking gadget, hands down. It’s not only comfy to wear all night (I’m one of those who’s always rested with my jewelry) The data it gathers is excellent and reliable, too. In addition to monitoring the heartbeat, temperature, and oxygen saturation the Oura Ring provides me with more than I would want to know about my level of sleep. The sleep score is an overview of my sleep, but your sleep-stages chart as well as breathing pattern graph help me understand my sleep patterns. an in-depth look at my sleep patterns.
I’m most interested in heart rate variation (HRV) data, but. HRV can be a sign that you are sleeping “stressors” such as traveling anxiety, stress and even health issues. If you notice that the Oura Ring picks up on significant changes in HRV, it may suggest that you take a break. On a rest day activities goals are not allowed. I’ve been advised to rest during particular busy weeks or at the end of a lengthy travel period. This reminder to rest and not push myself to workout, has made me pay attention to my body’s needs better.
For a long time I was hoping that for a long time that the Apple Watch had a method to relax during the all day of close the activity rings which was an important benefit for The Oura Ring. In watchOS 10, you are able to stop the activity rings whenever you like.
A comfortable, discreet design
I’ve already mentioned that I mentioned that the Oura Ring is comfortable -It’s comfy to the point that I frequently forget the ring is on. Despite the internal sensors, it’s surprisingly light, weighing 0.14 to 0.21 grams, based on the its size. I’m guessing I have rings that are not smarter, but they’re heavier.
As for my different jewelry pieces, I love the way that Mya Ring looks like it Oura Ring blends in with the other jewelry I’ve chosen to wear. I own the Silver Oura Ring, but it also comes in gold black, rose gold, in matte black named Stealth. Although it is nice to be capable of switching colors to match outfits in the same way that I could switch with Apple Watch bands the silver is a neutral choice to suit my personal fashion.
Partnerships are growing in the wellness market
In the past year The amount of Oura Ring integrations has grown to include collaborations with popular platforms. The most interesting partnerships is with Strava the running and fitness tracker application with more than 100 million active users. The users who have Oura Rings can see their readiness information in your Strava accounts. The integration works in both ways: Strava activity data is transferred to Your Oura dashboard, which means that even when you’re not wearing the ring (or monitoring Strava via something such as your Apple Watch Ultra or a Garmin watch) your progress is synced.
Oura Ring also works with Therabody which is the manufacturer of top massage tools like Theragun Pro 5. Theragun Pro 5. Users can keep track of Therabody’s therapies within the Oura App so that they can track the effect of specific recuperation tools to their own data in the course of time. Natural Cycles, the first FDA-approved birth control application, is a different noteworthy collaboration. Users can connect data on temperature trends directly to The Oura Ring, making it simpler to take temperature readings on the skin. These readings, when coupled with other fertility indicators, could aid in pregnancy planning.
The life of batteries and the charging process can causes headaches
The most difficult thing I face with My Oura Ring is keeping it fully charged. With all features on and continuous SpO2 monitoring The battery’s lifespan is around three full days. (Before that feature to monitor blood oxygen became active it took me at most five days from the full charge.) The ring will send notifications about charging to my iPhone as well as I have an alarm for battery life to the iPhone security screen however, I find myself with an unresponsive Oura Ring more frequently than I’d like to.
It’s because I often travel and reside at various locations. Because The Oura Ring only charges with a charging base that is proprietary it’s a problem in the event that I do not bring it. A charging kit for spares costs $59 and that’s not affordable if I want to keep it at a several locations I move between. I’d like an easier method to recharge it in the event of a need.
It’s still not enough to be replaced by my Apple Watch
Although I love having fun with the Oura Ring, at no time have I ever felt that it would replace the functionality of my Apple Watch. I’m sure I can understand the reasons why some would choose the Oura Ring over a smartwatch or an activity band, but there are a lot of things I’d like to have in my Apple Watch that Oura Ring isn’t able to provide. The most obvious of these isThe Oura Ring doesn’t have a display, which means I’m unable to monitor my workout activity when I don’t have the Oura application open. If you do lots of heart training based on rate, this is an issue.
Additionally I love receiving notifications, controlling playback of music and much more with the Apple Watch. I have a list of important Apple Watch apps that I cannot live without. It would be fantastic to have an Oura application for the Apple Watch, where I could track my readiness scores and sleep information. As My Apple Health profile is synced to My Oura Ring, a smartwatch application would be able to take the integration even is more.
Do I want to keep wearing the Oura Ring?
The short answer is that yes I’m not planning to put off wearing my Oura Ring. Although I’ve tried other fitness trackers as well as sleep-tracking devices throughout the year but The Oura Ring has remained a constant fixture on my fingers.
However, I’m assuming there will be some companies trying to take advantage of the popularity of the Oura Ring by creating new smart rings with features that compete to make them stand out. If this is true I’ll certainly want to explore them to see what other benefits that the smart ring world could provide.
